It's all action in London this week - don't miss the Paralympic Games, Channel 4 every evening.
London 1948 was the first attempt to run an event designed for those with a disability. The idea came from Dr. Ludwig Guttmann who was a strong advocate of using sports therapy to enhance the quality of life for people who were injured or wounded during World War II. The first official Paralympics were in Rome in 1960 with approximately 400 athletes. There will be over 4,200 Paralympians in London making it the second biggest sporting event in the world. The Olympics are top.
All ages, pupils and adults, staff especially invited.
There's lots going on in Scottish volleyball at the moment. Full details in PE, but these include Coaching sessions and Recreational games for all ages and levels of ability. Staff are more than welcome to play as well!!Please see the posters in the PE corridor.
