October 2018 Newsletter

Dear Parent/Guardian,

  1. Education Scotland
Our school was inspected by Education Scotland earlier this month. Our pupils conducted themselves superbly and made a very positive impression.

We now await the report from Education Scotland.

  2. School Show
This year, audiences have been entertained and enthralled by successful performances of our School Show, “Legally Blonde”. The show involves pupils from S2-S4 and was performed over four nights. Well done to all involved on stage and behind the scenes - we are exceptionally proud of you.

Many thanks, once again, to our sponsors of this year’s Show -
    • Deborah Welsh Commercial Media
    • Hairport, Hairdressers
    • Motherwell Mobility Centre
    • Procast Building Contractors Ltd

  3. Remembrance Service
Our annual Remembrance Service will be held in the school on Sunday 11 November at 1.30 pm in the Assembly Hall.

  4. Extra Curricular Activities
There are a great variety of extra-curricular activities available for all pupils in the school. These can be found on the school website.

  5. Parent Council News
Dalziel High School is extremely fortunate to have a very active Parent Council, which meets regularly on the first Thursday of each month in the School. Meetings start at 7.00 pm and all parents are welcome to attend.

Amongst other issues, the Parent Council continue to hold a dialogue with North Lanarkshire Council regarding the state of repair of the school and future investment plans and continue to be involved in parental input to the School Improvement Plan (areas such as school to parent progress reports).

Mr Graeme Murray has been elected as the new Chairperson of the Parent Council. After recent elections, the two new members of the Parent Council are Mrs Gill Hetherton and Mr Tom Mooney.
