The annual Sports Day once again took place at Dalziel Park on Monday 10th June. S1 to S6 pupils participated in last week’s sports heats, with 180 pupils qualifying to represent their house in the finals held on Sports Day.
It was tremendous to see all pupils participating and spectating in an exemplar manner. The event brings teaching staff and pupils together, with all pupils either spectating or participating and over 60 members of staff volunteering to carry out various jobs on the day. The Physical Education Department would like to thank teaching staff for their support and pupils for representing their House and ensuring each event was a success.
Pupils compete to gain points for their house and to win the prestigious Sports Day individual championship. Senior pupils compete for the Bryson Trophy (Girl and Boy individual sports day winner) and for the Murning Trophy, which is won by the pupil that accumulates the most points during the throwing events.
Pupils can participate in 100m, 200m, hurdles, 800m, high jump, long jump, discus, shot putt and Javelin.
