Public Speaking Competition 2019 Winners

This year was the first time Lanarkshire schools were invited by the Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire's Office to participate in a Public Speaking Competition.

The competition was for S3 pupils and was held on the 29th of March. The pupils were asked to speak about Citizenship, describing how both their school and community encourage people to be good citizens.

Our team was coached by Ms Kazeminia and they put a huge amount of effort into their performance. The schools involved were Larkhall Academy, Uddingston Grammar School, Bellshill academy and Dalziel High School. It was a tense, formal event but everyone involved learned a lot from their experience and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

We are delighted to announce that the team from Dalziel High School , Rosie Watson, Jack Wilson, Lauren Hetherton, Mia Richards and Lewis Haggart, performed outstandingly and won this prestigious award.

They have made us all very proud and will be the first Citizenship Ambassadors in Dalziel High School, giving them the opportunity to promote the idea of citizenship and also attend Citizenship ceremonies and other formal events with representatives from the Lord Lieutenant's office.

Well done to everyone involved!
