For the first time for 3 years the weather was kind for Dalziel High’s school sports.
The past two years have been spoiled by poor weather which has prevented whole school attendance but in this magical period of weather there was a happy relaxed atmosphere trackside as the finalists, having earned their place after last week’s Heats, did their best to perform and garner points.
These points have a double purpose, firstly they contribute towards the Inter-House Games Shield and secondly they add up to determine year group Individual Champions.
A whole raft of school trips mean some pupils miss out on Heats Day but there were sufficient athletes present to guarantee a good competitive event across all year groups.
Competition was keen as the programme worked through hurdles, sprints, middle-distance and culminated in the House Relay events.
A Senior tug-of-war rounded the day off.
Many thanks to all Staff for their assistance in officiating, timing and scoring and to all those who were on the slightly less glamorous role of spectator crowd control.
For the first time in 8 years Greig House were crowned winners – runaway winners in fact – with Barclay 2nd and Colville 3rd.
Individual Champions were as follows:
|S1||Jaiden Thomson||Jenna Martin|
|S2||Oscar Logan||Rosie Watson|
|S3||Ben Silvey||Louise Rankin|
|S4||Andrew Winter||Zoe Hawkins|
|S5/6||Owen Jeffreys||Rachel Wedlock|
These School successes were added to with the County sports results where the school collected 10 medals.
These were as follows and many congratulations to those who participated and reached finals.
