March 2016 Newsletter

Dear Parent/Guardian,

  1. Health Fayre
This year Dalziel celebrated its 22nd Annual Health Fayre, with the theme being ‘The Olympic Games’.

The Assembly Hall was, once again, transformed by Group members, Ann Walker and Catrina Allan, with beautifully decorated carnival style masks provided by the local feeder primaries, contributing to the decoration.

The winning mask featured on the front cover of the Health Fayre programme. Ladywell Primary pupil, Maria McDonald, was the winner and she was presented with a token of thanks by Scott Leitch from Motherwell Football Club who also opened this year’s Fayre.

As always, the school is indebted to those organisations who provided exhibits and/or staff to man the stalls, each of which supplied a wealth of information on issues such as health care, first aid and healthy food and drink options. Once again, the Health Fayre was a very successful event and much enjoyed by all who attended.

  2. Staffing
Congratulations to Dr Leigh-Ann Scott, who was recently appointed as Principal Teacher of Mathematics.

  3. SQA Exams
The SQA exams for Dalziel High school pupils begin on Wednesday 4 May. All pupils involved in the exams will receive an exam timetable, information from SQA and a letter to parents giving details of study leave, during assemblies in the next couple of weeks.

  4. Spring Concert
The Spring Concert, presented by the pupils of the Music Department, will be held on Tuesday 22 March in the Gymnasium starting at 7.00 pm. Tickets, priced £2.00, will soon be available from the Music Department with a small number of seats available on the night.

  5. School Survey
As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the educational opportunities and provision in Dalziel we would like to enlist your help. We undertake an Annual Survey and ask that all staff, pupils and parents complete our on-line questionnaire. This should take no more than 10 minutes and is available until Friday 1 April.

The Survey can be accessed using the link sent to you via text message or via the link on our school webpage: www.dalzielhigh.org.uk

Paper copies of the Survey are available on request.

Pupils will have an opportunity to complete the Survey in school.

  6. Easter Egg
DHSFPA Easter Egg Club is performing “Viva Las Vegas”. The performance runs from Tuesday 19 April - Saturday 23 April 2016.

The show is a brand new musical revue featuring songs celebrating all that Las Vegas is famous for, including songs by Elvis, Elton John, Barry Manilow, Tom Jones and many more.

The venue is Motherwell Theatre and performances start at 7.30 pm each evening. For ticket sales please contact 01698 322867.
