September 2014 Newsletter

Dear Parent/Guardian

Can I thank all parents/carers for your continued support with our dress code. Our pupils are coming to school properly dressed and looking very smart. If anyone has old blazers that are no longer needed we would be happy to put them to good use and they can be handed in to the school office.

  1. S1 Pupils
I am delighted with how well our new S1 pupils have settled into life at Dalziel. Their enthusiasm remains high and we continue to encourage them to join at least one, though preferably more, of the many clubs on offer at lunchtimes and after school. Should you have any concerns you wish to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Pupil Support Tutor or Mrs Allison, the S1 Depute Head.

  2. School Show
Our School Show “All Shook Up” will be performed in the school from Monday 6 to Thursday 9 October. Tickets are on sale now priced at £8 for an adult and £6 for a child. We are delighted to announce our new sponsor for the show is Dundas Estates & Development at Baron’s Gate.

The Listening Bus visited the school on Wednesday 10 September. The bus is a resource from the National Deaf Children’s Society which delivers workshops to hearing impaired children. Thirty of our children visited the bus and enjoyed workshops on Health and Wellbeing, Getting Ahead and Technology.

  12. Celebrating Success

Congratulations and very well done go to S2 pupil, Ryan Anderson, who was one of the youngest competitors to take part in the Great Scottish Swim in Loch Lomond in August, to raise money for UNICEF. Having been inspired by a short Comic Relief film, Ryan started his fundraising at the age of 10, raising £500 by swimming three miles (200 lengths) in the local pool for Comic Relief. Since then, his swimming has raised a further £2,200 for charity. An excellent achievement, Ryan.

Isla McGuire, S4, recently passed her Higher Dance examination with a Grade A award - a great accomplishment at only 14 years of age.
