Dear Parent/Guardian

  1. School Show
    Our School Show, “Back to the 80s”, finishes a very successful four night run with every performance a sell out.

  2. Parent Council/Parents' Association
    We are very fortunate to have a very active Parent Council and Parents’ Association. The Parents’ Association is hoping to recruit new members, so please come along and find out more about our school and how you can help provide the best opportunities for our pupils. Details of all meeting dates and times are on the Community Section of our website www.dalzielhigh.org.uk

  3. Remembrance Service
    Our annual Remembrance Service will be held in the school on Sunday 10 November at 2.00 pm in the Assembly Hall.

  4. Standard Grade, Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 Appeals
    The Standard Grade and Intermediate 1 and 2 appeals results will be posted out by the SQA on 28 October, therefore results will be with the school on 30 October or thereabouts.Staff will inform pupils as soon as they are made aware of any changes to pupils’ results.

  5. S3 Parents’ Evening
    In addition to our usual format for Parents’ Evening, we plan to deliver a presentation in the Assembly Hall. This will address Curriculum for Excellence and information regarding the National Qualifications. Due to limited seating, we plan to run the same presentation twice - at 4.00 pm and 6.30 pm. We hope to see all S3 parents at one of these time slots.

  6. Extra Curricular Activities
    The following extra curricular activities are available to all pupils in the school:-

    Motherwell v Hearts - We have 200 free tickets for Motherwell v Hearts on Saturday 19 October – kick-off 3pm. See Mr Park if interested.

    S4/5/6 NLC Indoor Triathlon - Sports Ambassadors, Sarah Barrie and Deborah Kerr, spoke at pupil Assemblies last week regarding the NLC Indoor Triathlon.

    Teams of 4 are required, mixed or single sex, but all from the same year, to row 500 m, cycle 2 km, run 1 km, all on the machines in the Fitness Suite.

    The winners within each section will represent the school at the NLC event to be held at Ravenscraig in December. Names of any pupils interested should be passed to the PE Department.

    Rugby - All rugby players (S1-S4) should attend training on Wednesdays after school from 4.00 pm - 5.00 pm – please ensure you bring your kit.

    Netball Club - The Netball Club takes place in the Games Hall from 4.00 pm - 5.00 pm on Tuesday evenings. Everyone welcome to attend - see Miss Campbell for further details.

    School Hockey - The School Hockey Club is on Wednesdays from 3.45 pm -5.00 pm - all welcome.

    Motherwell Hockey Club - Motherwell Hockey Club training takes place on Thursday nights at Taylor High School from 7.00 pm – 9.00 pm. All are welcome - no experience necessary.

    Girls Football - Girls Football takes place on Wednesday after school and finishes at 5.00 pm – see Miss Maguire for further details.

    Senior Volleyball - Senior Volleyball is held in the school during Wednesday lunchtimes at 12.10 pm. All welcome.

    Junior Volleyball - Junior Volleyball for S1-3 is on Tuesday lunchtimes starting 12.10pm. As always, all are welcome.

    Volleyball – Friday - Friday Volleyball takes place from 4.00 pm -5.00 pm. All ages are welcome. A full PE kit required. See A Stewart or D Masters for more information.

    Basketball Club - S1-2 Basketball will be held in the Games Hall on Monday lunchtimes and S2-6 Basketball will be held in the Games Hall after school on Thursdays. All pupils are welcome to attend regardless of ability or experience. Just bring your kit and give it a go!

    Dance Class - A Dance Class, for all years, takes place on Wednesday lunchtimes - see PE staff for details.

    Gymnastics – The S1-3 Gymnastics class takes place during Thursday lunchtimes. See PE staff for details.

    Music Clubs - Drums and Guitar Club, for S1 - 2 pupils, runs during Thursday lunchtimes at 12.15 pm in Music Room 1.
    Keyboard Club, for S1 - 2 pupils, runs during Friday lunchtimes at 12.15 pm in Music Room 1.
    Junior Choir practice, for S1-2 pupils, takes place during Wednesday lunchtimes at 12.15 pm in Music Room 2.
    Senior Choir practice takes place during Monday lunchtimes at 12.15 pm in Music Room 2.
