Careers in Creative Industries
While you might have heard that becoming an Architect, Fashion Designer, Product Designer, Fine Artist or Sculptor is an option for those who study Art or Design, there are many other careers available for those who are able to envision, design and create beautiful things.
How useful is studying Art and Design/Photography if I don’t want to pursue a career in creative industry?
The confidence and creativity gained from creative study play a pivotal role in developing the key skills every employer craves: problem solving, analysis, innovation, teamwork. Many careers require the ingenuity, discipline, tenacity and creativity that are intrinsic to Art and Design.
Consider the fine motor skills and manual dexterity required to be successful as a Surgeon, a Dentist, an Electrician, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon! It’s not only our creative industries that benefit from studying Art and Design, pupils wanting to study engineering, medicine and science can greatly benefit from this! By widening learners curriculum to include creative subjects and studying Art and Design parallel with other subjects enhances the creative awareness required to be successful in all career routes.
